A two hour interactive session designed to help high school students prepare for college admission applications by maximizing on their personal talents and assets. Our panel of speakers will focus on high achieving students to cross obstacles faced by the most competitive group of applicants. The panel will provide helpful tips to prepare applications for admission into Tier one schools. Students will also get one-on-one time with speakers to discuss their specific background and how best to highlight assets. Recent admits to Tier one colleges will be on hand to talk to about their own experiences.

Prof. Anil Saigal is Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tufts University. Prof. Saigal received his B.Tech from IIT, Bombay and M.S. and Ph.D from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA. He has been at Tufts University since 1983. He was Chair of Mechanical Engineering from 2002-07 and Director, International Programs, School of Engineering, Tufts University from 2007-09. He currently serves on the Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid Committee and has been organizing College Admission Workshops for the past 10 years. He is a Fellow of ASME and received the 2011 Distinguished Service Alumni Award from IIT Bombay.
Brown University Adjunct Associate Professor of Physics, Associate Dean of the College for Science
David Targan, PhD is Associate Dean of the College for Science and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Physics. Dean Targan received degrees from Brown (Sc.B.), University of California-Los Angeles (M.A.), and the University of Minnesota (Ph.D.). While at UCLA and Minnesota, he conducted research on cataclysmic binary stars at Lick Observatory, Mt. Lemmon, and Palomar. Dean Targan is a member of Brown’s Department of Physics and, as Director of the Ladd Observatory, oversees public programming and special programs in which area teachers and students conduct original research in astronomy using Brown’s supercomputer and telescopes.

Jack Cahn is a millennial journalist and activist who has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time, and New York magazine and have appeared on CBS, Nickelodeon and Al Jazeera’s “America Tonight.” Experts on millennial political beliefs, Jack is nationally ranked debater between 2010 and 2014 and has served as national leader of the Junior State of America and as an organizer for national and local campaigns. Today, he writes for the Huffington Post, where he is an accomplished journalist. He has won Columbia’s Gold Circle Award for News Reporting in 2015.
