Dr. Prakash Chougule is a cancer specialist (Radiation Oncologist) who has spent most of his professional career in patient care, clinical research and teaching at the prestigious Brown University in Rhode Island. His area of interest has been organ sparing treatment approach to cancers of the head and neck area, Gamma Knife Radiosurgery and brain tumors. He was one of the first in the world to insert a radioactive source in a human coronary artery-post angioplasty and considers himself fortunate to have worked closely with cardiologist Dr. David Williams and Neurosurgeon Dr. George Noren. Dr. Chougule has published extensively in these areas. He now serves as a consultant for 21st century Oncology.
It has also been Dr. Chougule’s goal to help the less fortunate in India. He is dedicating much of his time trying to help establish cancer prevention and treatment centers and promoting education. His mother instilled value of education early in life after Dr. Chougule lost his father at 7. To address the conditions of illiteracy and promote education on a larger scale, Dr. Chougule works with NGOs like Akshay Patra and Ekal Vidyalaya. Dr. Chougule has also pursued these missions through his passion for music as an avid singer and as a motivational speaker.
