Norbert Johnson has nearly 20-years of experience developing medical devices in the areas of surgical navigation, medical imaging, and robotics. Norbert is currently the vice-president of Robotics, Imaging, and Navigation for Globus Medical. Norbert created this group within Globus two and half years ago and is developing robotic and navigation systems for the spine surgeon. Prior to joining Globus, Norbert co-founded Stonewedge Corporation, LLC in 2010 and served as CTO & COO. Stonewedge created the Lifespire™ line of consumer products geared toward the aging in place senior market. Prior to Stonewedge, Norbert co-founded Breakaway Imaging, LLC in 2002 and served as VP of R&D for the design and development of the O-Arm Imaging System™. Breakaway was sold to Medtronic in 2007 where Norbert served as Director of R&D. Prior to Breakaway, Norbert spent four years developing EM based surgical navigation systems for VTI. Norbert received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University and a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University. Norbert holds fifteen patents with more than 10 pending. Norbert lives in North Andover, MA with his wife and two children. His free time is filled with family activities such as geocaching, swimming, and skiing.
